I bought "Dead Men Walk" on vhs and later bought the dvd from Alpha. I notice both copies had the same film flaws at the same points in the film. Apparently Alpha was making copies of Sinister's product. I asked someone at Sinister if they were aware of this and they told me I wasn't the first to let them know. But that's how it is with PD films. Theoretically, you, I, or anyone can take public domain movies from any source, be it film prints, video tape, dvd, or even what's offered here on IA, burn it to dvds, then sell the dvds, and it would be legal. Of course, that's just my understanding. If I'm wrong, let me know.
